A Brief History of Light for Living. Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website. Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Click here to learn more about becoming a Christian. Listen to the "Light for Living" broadcast live on whvtfm.com Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm.

Dealing With Depression Part 3: First Steps Towards a Right Spirit Dealing With Depression Part 2: You're Not Alone We have already learned that God wants us to be whole. He
has not given us a spirit of fear, but of sound mind. However, we have also
learned that we are not alone. Many godly men have experienced times of
discouragement. But for each of them there was a remedy. That remedy is found in
the Scriptures and I want to share it with you today. If space permitted, I would love to go in depth with six basic principles that should guide our thought life. These principles, when applied consistently, will lead to peace of mind. However, let me just share them with you briefly and allow you the privilege of studying them deeper on your own. You can remember them by the initials WWWMMC. That represents Wait, Word, Works, Meditation, Music and Company. “Wait on the Lord” is the well-known slogan of
the Christian going through a trial. It finds its origin in Isaiah 40:31.
However, the psalmist also knew the truth of it. “Wait on the LORD: be of
good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”
(Psalm 27:14) Don’t be overanxious. Wait for God’s timing and He will give
you strength. God’s Word is the ultimate source of strength and
encouragement. But, like any remedy, it only works when used properly. Jesus
said, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace.”
(John 16:33) Hebrews 4:12 teaches us that His word is a discerner of the
thoughts and intents of our hearts. Joshua 1:8 encourages us with the truth that
observing and obeying God’s Word is the source of all success. People argue, “I can’t control what thoughts come into
my mind.” Sure you can. You have the ultimate control of what you dwell on.
You determine your focus of thought by the actions you take.
Proverbs 16:3 gives this simple principle, “Commit thy works
unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
When the works of our hands glorify the flesh rather than the
Savior, out thoughts are bound to be disappointing. Our conscience will not
allow us to have peace when living outside of God’s plan. Yet when we commit
to serve the Lord whole-heartedly, there is a peace that passes understanding
that fills our soul. You may say, “I know people who go to church every
Sunday, teach Sunday School, give to the poor and do a lot of good works but
they are still depressed.” We must keep in mind that our works are not just
those things that the world sees on the outside. They are often works of the
heart. They may include works like forgiveness, faith or love. A failure to
pursue works these types of works with our whole heart, may prevent the peace
that God desires us to have. Instead we may replace them with bitterness, wrath
and hatred These are works of the flesh that are contrary to peace of heart and
mind. It is up to you to choose the works that you will pursue. Space has only permitted us to examine the first three steps. Lord willing, we will look at the final three next week. Dealing With Depression Part 4: Final Steps Towards a Right Spirit You are the
