Light for Living Archives.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

A Small Catch and a Big Feast

Fishing is one of my hobbies that I have not found much time for in the last couple years. I was delighted this summer when a lady in our church brought us some fish that her husband had caught. They were delicious. It didn't take us long to eat them. They were so good that we made sure there were no leftovers.

This causes me to think about a young boy who had probably spent the better part of a day fishing with no success. The fish weren't biting. When he finally decided to give up, all he had to show for his efforts were two small fish. They certainly were nothing to brag about, barely even keepers. However, he took them and five loaves of barley bread and headed for home.

On his way he began to notice an unusually large crowd that had gathered. The young lad's curiosity got the best of him and he had to investigate. A man by the name of Andrew immediately took notice of him and asked if he would be willing to give his small catch for the Lord's work. The boy must have been embarrassed that he didn't have more to offer but he willingly gave all that he had. With that little bit of nothing, Jesus prayed and gave thanks to God the Father for His provision and fed over 5,000 men, not counting women and children. What's more amazing is that there was more food left over than what they started with.

In this true story we learn a simple but powerful truth. Many Christians have sung, "Little is much when God is in it." Truer words have never been spoken.

What Christians need to learn is that God does not care how much you have. He wants to know if you will give what you do have to Him. You say, "I don't have much. I'm not very talented. I'm not wealthy. I don't speak well. I have very little to offer God." God says, "I'll take what little you have and make something big with it."

Real joy and enthusiasm only comes in your Christian life when you are willing to take what little you have and give it all to God. What a thrill it is to watch Him multiply our small contributions and make something big out of them.

D. L. Moody didn't have much to offer God. His friends encouraged him to pursue anything besides the ministry because they said he had little to offer. He wasn't well trained and his speech was pitiful. Moody didn't listen. He gave God what little he had and saw over 1 million people trust Christ as a result.

You may not have much, but will you give God what you do have? If you do, He'll certainly make something big out of it.
