Light for Living Archives.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

Signs of Life

Most of us have been in a hospital setting at one time or another. We have seen the equipment that monitors a person's vital signs. These machines indicate the status of one's life. Our heart beat, blood pressure, and pulse are all signs that we have life. There are also some signs of spiritual life. As we talk about these signs of spiritual life, please keep in mind that these are only "signs of life." They do not create our spiritual life. They simply indicate that we have it.

John gives us a clear indication of spiritual life in Christ when he writes, "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death." 1 John 3:14. A person who has truly been saved has a passion for other believers. He loves to be around others who have found the same joy, peace, and fulfillment through Christ. They have a common bond together. Christians look forward to the time when they can meet again in the house of God and enjoy good fellowship with each other. Does this describe you? Do you have this sign of life?

Peter gives us another indication that we are a child of God. "As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." 1 Peter 2:2. I don't believe you can find a Christian that does not have a love for the Word of God. I did not say that every Christian understands everything they read in the Scriptures. Certainly, some passages are more difficult than others. He does say, however, that they will desire it. They want to understand. They search the Scriptures. They read what others have said about them. They enjoy good Bible preaching. They strive to understand God's Word. They don't give up easily. Do you have a desire to know more of God's Word? Have you opened your Bible recently?

Finally, we find in Hebrews sign of spiritual life that is not so pleasant. "For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?" Hebrews 12:6,7. If you are a child of God, you cannot run far from Him without knowing it. God chastens or disciplines His children. A Christian cannot live in open willful sin without God's intervention. One who can walk away from God and not experience His chastening should never feel comfortable claiming His salvation.

As I mentioned earlier, these are "signs of life". They do not produce spiritual life, but they do come with it. A person whose life does not demonstrate these signs of life should earnestly seek the Lord and His precious gift of eternal life.
