Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website. Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Click here to learn more about becoming a Christian. Listen to the "Light for Living" broadcast live on whvtfm.com Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm.

The Priority of Prayer A disciple showed great wisdom when he said to Jesus, “Teach us to pray.” (Luke 11:1) Dr. John R. Rice once said, “All of our failures are prayer failures.” A church sign reads “God answers kneemail.” Have you ever noticed how modern communication has made the world a smaller place? I can chat online with a missionary halfway around the world or send an email that will be delivered instantly. I recall the story of a 9/11 victim who sent an email from the World Trade Center that went something like this: “I love you and I’ll see you in heaven.” The world changed forever when Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone. Communication has been the key ingredient in the technological advancement of society. Yet long before email, instant messages or cell phones there was a phenomenal means of communication called PRAYER. Through prayer, one could speak to someone more important that the president. One need not even speak the words, but simply think them in his heart and God above, the Creator of the Universe would answer. There is no such thing as a busy signal and one is never interrupted by call-waiting or lost signals. So why is it that the most advanced means of communication is so often neglected and underrated? Let me share with you three ways to make Prayer a Priority. In 1Thessalonians 5:17, Paul admonishes us to “Pray without Ceasing.” You ought to pray habitually. You can pray anytime anywhere. You don’t need a set of special words to quote when talking to God. Speak to him like you would a friend or family member. Tell Him what is on your heart. Pray Constantly. Pray at home, at work or in the car. (Just don’t close your eyes while driving. J ) In Luke 18:1 Jesus said “that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Pray without Fainting. That means giving up. The following verses tell a story of persistence. We ought to be consistent in our prayer life. Too many people quit to easy. This is an indication of a weak prayer life. Don’t be a quitter. Pray Consistently. Pray without Doubting. In Luke 11:5-13, Jesus illustrates how and why God answers prayer. He is our Father. A loving father may not give a child everything he wants. But He will meet all of your needs and some of your desires. We can have confidence that He will treat us as a loving Father. He promised that He would. Pray Confidently. Keep in mind, however, that the first prayer that God is obligated to answer, is the prayer of salvation. He is only obligated to His children. You are not a child of God until you have been born again and adopted into the family of God. While I may treat other children nicely, I am only obligated to my own. Pray today and invite Jesus Christ to be your Savior and open the door to the world’s greatest means of communication: Prayer. You are the
