A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

Be an Overcomer

I hate defeat. I don’t like to be beaten. I prefer to win. Victory is what I want, especially if it means overcoming the odds. Victory seems to be so much sweeter when the odds are against us. Everyone likes an underdog who becomes an overcomer.

God promises great things to those who are overcomers. "He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels." ~ Revelation 3:5

The very day you were conceived a book began to be written about you. Your biography is on record in heaven. David knew about that book when he wrote the 139th Psalm. Verses 15 and 16 record his thoughts. "My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them."

This book of life contains every detail of your life. It keeps an accurate record of even the most minute details. Jesus said that even "the very hairs of your head are all numbered." ~ Matthew 10:30. If you are like most people, there are some things in your life that you would rather not have written in that book. You would prefer to say, "Let’s skip over that chapter." But the record is complete.

Now you ask, "How can I be an overcomer? How can I keep my name from being blotted out of the book of life? How can I have eternal life?" These are great question and God’s Word presents a clear answer.

"For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" ~ I John 5:4,5. The key to victory is so simple that many pass right by it. When you place your faith and trust in Jesus Christ, you are an overcomer. You have found the victory.

This victory is guaranteed because your name is written in another book. When your name is inscribed in this book, it guarantees that your name will never be blotted out of the book of life. What book is this? It is the Lamb’s Book of Life. "And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb's book of life." ~ Revelation 21:27.

Your name is already in the Book of Life, but that’s temporary. Why not make it permenant by entering your name in the Lamb’s Book of Life?
