A Brief History of Light for Living. Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website. Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Click here to learn more about becoming a Christian. Listen to the "Light for Living" broadcast live on whvtfm.com Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm.

Is the Bible Outdated? Does the Bible have any relevance for today? Or is it the outdated writing of uninspired men? Can we really read the Bible with confidence believing that its truths are eternal and appropriate for this day and age? Bishop Spong makes a blatant attach on the Scriptures in a book entitled, "Rescuing the Bible from Fundamentalism." He raises the question of how "Christians could continue to call the Bible the Word of God when many of its passages reflected facts that twentieth-century Christians simply do not acknowledge as true and attitudes that twentieth-century Christians do not share." He says the Bible is outdated. It is ridiculous to assume that the authority of the Bible rests in whether or not man accepts it or shares in its values. This places mankind as God’s judge rather than God as man’s. I take great pleasure in pointing out that while the Bible is still the best selling book of all time, I purchased Spong’s book several years ago on a bargain table filled with books that would not sell. Ahem, who is outdated? The fact is that Mr. Spong believes that the Bible is merely a collection of man’s writings that reflects the value and culture of those men. Therefore as culture changes he believes that "truth" changes and so should the Bible. He rejects the truth of God’s Word and would just as soon eliminate verses like Psalm 119: 89 which reads, "For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven." I wonder how long it would take the bishop to use his scissors on 1 Peter 1:21. "For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost." Would you find a hole in the page of his Bible where 2 Timothy 3:16 used to appear? "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." If the Bible is God’s Word, then it is good for all time. Modernists make a false assumption when they suggest that the Bible is a reflection of culture and morals. Proverbs 16:25 answers this philosophy. "There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death." The Bible is more than man’s philosophy it is God’s law. If the Bible were merely a collection of man’s thoughts, it would not be worth standing behind a pulpit and preaching from. The Bible was never intended to be a reflection of man’s ideas. However, man will always do well when his life reflects the Scripture. James said, "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." Perhaps you wonder how someone could have such a diverse view of God’s Holy Word. Paul knew that they would and even told us why in 2 Corinthians 4:3. "But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost." You are the
