A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

The Importance of Church

"I don’t need to go to church. I can worship God just as well at home." Have you ever heard anyone say that?

Hebrews 10:25 clearly states God’s intent for us to be faithful in church. "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

Church attendance is important to the Christian. There you gain strength, encouragement, and direction from the preaching of God’s Word. But there is more. You will also find lifelong friendships. You will discover that others are concerned about your needs. In church you will meet brothers and sisters in Christ will pray with you and for you. They will lift you up when you are down and rejoice with you when you are glad. You will find opportunities to reach out to others, that will make your heart glad.

If you are in a good, Bible preaching church, you won’t be bored. You will find unmatched excitement. In Acts 2:47 we read about the early church. Here we see that those who trusted Christ as Savior were "Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved."

One of the many joys of being a Christian is being a part of the family of God. As a part of God’s family we enjoy the time spent with others in this family, our brothers and sisters in Christ. One of Jesus’ closest Apostles, John, said, "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren." ~ 1 John 3:14.

Many people are in the habit of developing excuses for why they don’t attend church. Some are very interesting. However, you will usually find that those excuses are rather humorous. Take a look at some of those same excuses when used in another application: bathing.

Imagine someone saying, "I don’t take baths because….

1.) I was forced to wash as a child. 2.) People who wash are hypocrites - they think they're cleaner than others. 3.) There are so many kinds of soap, I could never decide which was right. 4.) I used to wash, but it got boring. 5.) I wash only on Christmas or Easter. 6.) None of my friends wash. 7.) I'll start washing when I'm older. 8.) I really don't have time. 9.) The bathroom isn't warm enough. 10.) People who make soap are only after your money."

This weekend, why don’t you lay all of the excuses aside, find a good Bible preaching church, and enjoy spending some time in the Lord’s house. He’s expecting you.
