A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

God and Gays

It is disturbing to watch Harvey Milk School for Homosexuals in New York be funded by tax dollars to the tune of $3 million. I was repulsed when I read an article in an academic newsletter sent to school guidance counselors. It was designed to impress upon the guidance counselor their responsibility to encourage homosexual students whose ignorant parents probably did not understand them. But the ultimate insult and slap in the face of God is the homosexual "clergy." This week the Episcopal "church" ordained an openly homosexual bishop. I wonder how sharp their scissors and how dull their hearts and minds must have been when they cut and cropped the Scriptures to fit their perverse lives. Homosexuality is completely incompatible with Biblical Christianity much less the clergy.

The quickest way to spit in the face of God is a life of homosexuality. It insults God's design and plan for men and women. Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13 call homosexuality an abomination. Romans 1:26, 27 leave no doubt about God's purpose and design.

By now you are saying "Amen!" or "Oh me!" However, what I have stated above does not represent a complete biblical perspective on homosexuality. Balance is essential in the discussion. While it is obvious that homosexuality is a sin, it is also obvious that God loves sinners. Romans 5:8 reminds us that "while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Groups with the names like "God Hates Fags" forget about God's love. When Jesus was on the cross he carried the guilt of liars, murderers, drunkards, dope fiends, thieves, adulterers and homosexuals. He paid for their sin with His shed blood.

To have a complete Christian perspective we must remember 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, "Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind….shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." God loves and wants to save every sinner: the thief, the liar, the adulterer and the homosexual.

Perhaps you remember the Flintstones singing "We'll have a gay ole time." The meaning of the word has certainly changed since then. The truth is that the homosexual lifestyle is anything but happy and gay. In fact, they rank among the highest in disease, depression and suicide. This is not because of intolerance or "gay bashing." It is the result of a simple principle. The farther we live from God's design, the more depressing life is. Homosexuality is an extreme perversion of God's design inevitably tied to depression and disappointment. How wonderful it is to know that God can forgive and heal the broken heart and shattered life. Christian groups like Exodus have been a tremendous help men and women who have been redeemed from the homosexual lifestyle.

While God loves and wants to forgive the homosexual, there is absolutely no room for tolerance of that lifestyle in the God's Church. Any "church" that elevates and accepts the lifestyle does not have Jesus Christ as its Lord. The smartest thing any Christian can do that belongs to that kind of church is leave it and find a good, solid, Bible believing church. The smartest thing anyone caught up in homosexuality can do is ask God for forgiveness, turn from their wickedness and learn the joy of forgiveness in Christ Jesus.
