A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

God Can't Save Me

Have you ever heard someone say, "God could never save me." They don’t have to be convinced that they are sinners. They know it. They do not have to read Romans 3:23 to realize that they "fall short of the glory of God." They have accepted the fact that they are "no good" and falsely believe that God wants nothing to do with them. Some have even gone so far as to say, "I know I’m going to hell."

If this describes you, then you are in good company. As a matter of fact a very famous person in Christian history said something similar. "When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord." Luke 5:8.

This is when Peter first realized that Jesus was the Son of God. Something told Peter that if Jesus really knew who he was, He would not want anything to do with him.

Perhaps you feel that way today. Something tells you that because of something in your life, God wants nothing to do with you. You might be one of those who says, "I’ve tried to straighten up, but I just can’t do it. I’ll never be what I ought to be." Although there is value in recognizing your mistakes, I must say that you have made the same mistake Peter made. You are assuming something about God that He has never said. You assume that God wants you to clean yourself up before you come to Him. That is false.

One of Satan’s greatest tricks is to convince sinners that they are incapable of approaching God. He tells you that God would never want you because of your sin. Satan says, "God only wants good people." But God says something different. "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8. God is not reaching out to those filled with "self-righteousness." He reaches out to people who know that they are sinners. He was sharply criticized for this. People spoke evil of Jesus because he spent time with sinful people. Jesus responded, "They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Luke 5:31,32.

How did Jesus respond to Peter? He said, "Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men." Luke 5:10. The following verse tells us that Peter left all that he had and followed Jesus. You may know that Peter became one of the great leaders of the first church.

Jesus says the same thing to you, "Fear not." If you will just trust in Him, He will forgive all your sin. Notice that Peter did not simply quit what he had been doing. The Bible tells us that he followed Jesus. It does little good to simply "give up" our vices. You need to follow Jesus. When you decide to follow Jesus whole-heartedly, those problems of the past will take care of themselves.

Don’t accept Satan’s lie. God can and will save you. You just need to accept and trust Him. Will you begin following Jesus today?
