A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

Getting the Most from God

How many times have you heard that slurping sound of a child using his straw to get every last drop from the bottom of his cup? They don’t want anything to go to waste. They want to get all that they can.  I think that is how a Christian ought to be. We should have a passionate desire to get all that we can from our relationship with God.

Will you allow me share with you the ABC’s of getting the most out of God?

Accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. You have no access to God accept through Him. In John 14:6, Jesus plainly says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” It is not until you accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior that you become a child of God. We are all God’s creation. But we only become a child of God when we are born again. (John 3:5)

Bible reading and prayer are essential to gain power from above. Hebrew 4:12 says, “The word of God is quick and powerful…” I do not understand why any Christian would want to live a powerless life.  But I have found that there are some that lack strength, zeal and enthusiasm for the things of God. When trials and tribulations interrupt their life, they seem desperate and hopeless. This is because they have not made prayer and Bible reading a constant part of their Christian life.

On the other hand, there are Christians who seem to overcome every hurdle. No matter how difficult life may seem they face it with a smile. When life doesn’t seem fair and others may expect to see them bitter and angry, the Christian’s spirit is calm and filled with praise. How can this be? It is because they know the power of God. They gain strength from above through reading their Bible and praying to their heavenly Father.

Commit yourself to Him. We live in an age when commitment is frowned upon. People prefer convenience to commitment. But it is the committed Christian that finds strength and power from above. The committed Christian is not a quitter. He does not faint at the first sign of trouble. He does not give up on God when life gets difficult. Instead he is drawn closer to God through the obstacles of life. The committed Christian allows God to bring him through every trial. This is when he realizes the power of God in his life.

“Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.” (Psalms 37:5)

Are you getting the most out of your relationship with God? There is no better time to start than today. Accept Christ. Read your Bible and pray. Commit yourself wholly unto Him. Follow this advice and you will never be disappointed.
