A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

Fragile Things

If you have ever had a toddler you know what it means to "kid proof" your house! If you don't you are in for trouble. I remember taking my children into other peoples' homes when they were younger. You couldn't take your eyes off of them. This was especially true if it was a home without kids. The kids would be reaching for that delicate vase or an especially fragile knick knack sitting on the coffee table. Of course, taking them into a card shop was even more nerve racking! They always place the most breakable trinkets on the lower shelves. Perhaps its due to that "You break it, you buy it" policy.

I think this is similar to what Jesus had in mind in Matthew 9:36-38 "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."

When Jesus looked at the multitudes what did he see? It wasn't anything about their outward appearance that moved him. I don't think He noticed the color of their hair or paid much attention to the style of clothes they wore. I don't think He was impressed by their stature, neither physically nor financially. He saw something that was not as obvious to everyone else as it was to Him. He saw their souls.

I believe that Jesus looked at this multitude of people, carrying about in their bodies the most fragile yet eternal possession they would ever own. He was moved because he knew that many of them did not know how to care for it. He saw person after person who did not realize how delicate the treasure was that they carried with them. It was so fragile that it could be lost at any moment. One wrong turn or twist of fate and they would step out into eternity with an unprotected soul. Yet they happily went on with life unaware of the danger at hand. He saw them in much the same way we would see children laughing and giggling while tossing about a delicate, finely crafted piece of crystal.

Dear friend, there is nothing more delicate or more valuable than your eternal soul. The wonderful truth is, once you have placed you delicate and fragile soul into the strong and gentle hands of Jesus, it is protected forever. His hands are safe and secure.

"And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand." John 10:28,29.

Let me urge you to place your soul in the hands of the One Who is able to carry it safely through eternity. There is no joy in this world that compares to the peace that comes from knowing Him as your Savior and the Shepherd of your soul. Trust Him today.
