A Brief History of Light for Living. Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website. Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Click here to learn more about becoming a Christian. Listen to the "Light for Living" broadcast live on whvtfm.com Saturdays and Sundays at 4:00 pm.

Eternal Life is Forever Some Christians live their life just trying to hold on to
the gift of God, which is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Romans
6:23) They are afraid that they are going to loose it or maybe He’s going to
take it back. When God’s Word says, “whosoever believeth in him should not
perish, but have everlasting life,” (John 3:16) they are not sure that He
means what He says. The words “eternal life” or “everlasting life”
appear forty-five times in the New Testament. The words “temporary life”
never appear. If God gives you eternal life, then takes it away, it wasn’t
really eternal life, was it? In fact, the bible has much to say about the
eternal security of the believer. “Now he
which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;
Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in
our hearts.” (1 Corinthians 1:21,22) Three great truths should be observed here. The first is
that God is the One who establishes us, not ourselves. Ephesians 2:8,9 reminds
us that we are not saved by works but by grace through faith. If works did not
save us, works cannot keep us. Romans 3:28 reminds us that “a man is
justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” The second great truth is that He has sealed us. When you
mail a letter, you place it in an envelope, lick it and seal it. It is not to be
opened until it reaches its intended destination. When you were saved you were
sealed. In the first century they would drip melted wax over whatever was to be
sealed. Then an official would take a signet ring and stamp it with his seal. No
one could open that document without destroying the seal. You have been sealed
with God’s stamp if you have been saved. That’s why Jesus says in John
10:28,29 that no one can pluck a Christian out of His or His Father’s hands. Finally, he has given us the earnest of his Spirit. I
remember going with my grandfather to look at a car as a child. He gave the man
$100 in earnest money to hold the car for him. That was nonrefundable money that
showed that he was earnest about buying the car. The man held the car for him
until he returned with complete payment. Likewise, God has given us His Spirit,
which holds us until His return! Now the skeptic and the doubter says, “You mean you can
get saved and live like the devil?” What an assumption! But its not a new
argument. They said the same thing to Paul. Note his response. “What shall
we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? God forbid. How
shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Romans 6:1,2) A
saved person is a new creature with a new nature according to 2 Corinthians
5:17. The difference is that we do good works because we are saved rather than
in order to be or remain saved. What a privilege it is to be able to serve God out of love and gratitude rather than fear and selfish motives. You are the
