A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

The Enthusiastic Christian

Did you know that the word enthusiasm appears on every dollar bill? That’s right. Every dollar bill contains the word, "enthusiasm." Look for it. As a matter of fact, all U. S. currency carries the word.

If you haven’t found it yet, it’s probably because it is spelled differently than you might expect. Actually, the word enthusiasm derives from the two Greek words, en and theos. The word "en" is the same as the English word "in". Theos is the Greek word for "God". Enthusiasm translated literally means "in God". So when you read the phrase, "In God we trust", on your dollar bill you are reading the word "enthusiasm".

Truly, being in God is worth being excited about. It is absolutely clear that there is nothing more worthy of our enthusiasm than believing in God. We see a New Testament example of this in Acts 16:34. The Philippian jailer, who had moments before accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, "rejoiced, believing in God with all his house."

Trusting in Christ brings joy that is unspeakable. The most enthusiastic, exciting and encouraging people I know, are those who are trusting in God.

Are you trusting in God today? Do you have the joy of His presence? Can you rejoice in God your Savior?

Have you ever considered how the disciples must have felt when God made them that special promise in John 14:20? He said, "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you." To have such a bond with God Himself was unheard of. Yet they received that promise. He promised to be closer to them than any mortal man ever could be. Their hearts must have been filled with enthusiasm upon hearing those words.

That same promise is available to us today. We can know God, be in God and have God in us. That is something worth being enthusiastic about!
