A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

Divine Appointments

Life is filled with appointments. Are you one of those who needs more than 24 hours in a day and seven days in a week? With all of our modern time saving devices, it seems like we have less time every day. Not only do we have business appointments, doctor’s appointments, and personal commitments, but our children have appointments for school activities, extra-curricular activities, gymnastics, ballet, karate, and swimming lessons. Life is filled with appointments.

Although we all find ourselves late for some appointments and canceling others, God’s Word tells us that there is one appointment that we will all keep. "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27. Each of us will stand before God one day and give an account of our lives. There is no canceling or postponing of this appointment. It is one that we will all keep and keep in God’s time.

Since this is an unavoidable and important appointment, we should take time now to prepare for it. There is no need to fear this appointment, as many do. Instead you can look forward to it with great anticipation. This is possible by keeping another appointment God has set for you. This appointment is not required, but it is necessary. In other words, you may choose not to keep it, but the consequences are severe.

God has made an appointment for you to be saved. Paul tells us in 1 Thessalonians 5:9 that, "God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus told the world that He did not come "to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved." John 3:17. Have you kept this appointment?

You keep your appointment with salvation when you recognize that you are a sinner, realize that Christ died for your sins, and receive Him as your Savior. Don’t cancel this appointment. Don’t put it off for another day. God has made time for you. Do you have time for Him?

When you face God, Himself, in eternity, He will have one question for you. You will be judged by the answer. He will ask if you have kept that first appointment. He will want to know if you kept that appointment for salvation. Heaven’s record will be there. The Lamb’s Book of Life will be present. Those who have trusted in Him will have their names inscribed on its pages. Will He find your name there?

Our final appointment with God draws nearer each day. Each of us will stand before the Righteous Judge of the Universe. This will be a pleasant day for those who have kept their appointment with salvation. The verdict will be in their favor and God’s judgment will grant them eternal life!

"And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment." Hebrews 9:27.
