A Brief History of Light for Living. Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website. Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Daniel Gave Thanks “Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.” (Daniel 6:10) Daniel was a man with a good Testimony. We read in verse three that “an excellent spirit was in him.” As with anyone who faithfully serves God, he was met with Troublemakers. Jealous men conspired against him. They deceived King Darius into passing a law that would require anyone who prayed to anyone but the king for a period of thirty days, to be cast into the den of lions. In spite of this plot we find that Daniel was Thankful. Daniel could have been ungrateful. He could have been filled with bitterness instead of betterness. He could have had a little pity party and whined because of all his troubles. Even though Daniel was elevated to a high position, we must never forget that he had been snatched from his homeland and was still a captive. His people and his nation had been devastated. He would never again see the Jerusalem of his youth. Yet Daniel gave thanks. We find that Daniel had a habit of being thankful. This was not his first time nor would it be his last. Three times a day he gave thanks. A thankful person is a person who is at peace regardless of life’s circumstances. Daniel didn’t wait until Thanksgiving Day to give thanks before eating the turkey and pumpkin pie. He didn’t wait till half-time and say a short prayer for his favorite team. Daniel was in the habit of being thankful. Are you a thankful person? Who would have blamed Daniel if he made excuses for thirty days. “Lord you know it would cost me my life! How can I serve you if I’m turned into Lion Chow?” But Daniel was just simple enough to believe God was in control. Some might suggest that he could have closed the windows and gave thanks secretly. In fact, many today are ashamed to acknowledge the God they profess to love. I always find it refreshing to see a family or even an individual that gives thanks for their food in a public restaurant. It might seem like a small deed, but it is a public testimony of thankfulness and faith. Daniel was Triumphant in the end. God rewards thankfulness and faithfulness. The lions lost their appetite until his accusers paid a visit. Thankfulness was a key to victory in Daniel’s life and it will work for you too. Take time to read the whole story in Daniel chapter six. Your are the
