A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

But God!

"But God raised Him from the dead." (Acts 13:30)

"But Dad," is a phrase my boys are fond of using. And I often respond, "No buts about it." However, this verse is a great place to use the word. If we only had the previous verses to hold onto we would be in trouble. Notice verses 28 and 29.

"And though they found no cause of death in him, yet desired they Pilate that he should be slain. And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they took him down from the tree, and laid him in a sepulchre."

If that is all we had, the ministry and work of Jesus would not have been complete. No churches would have been built. No souls would have been saved and the Christian faith would have been extinct. What a dismal world this would be without a risen Savior.  Later Paul would write to the church at Corinth and say, "If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable." (1 Corinthians 15:19)

Our hope in Jesus Christ rests on more than the supposition that He was a good teacher, great philosopher, moral leader or even a prophet. The many miracles, wonders and signs that He performed are not the basis of our salvation. Our "Blessed Hope" might only be a "Blessed Wish" if it were not for the dramatic truth of verse thirty that changed the world! "But God raised Him from the dead!"

The resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the essential key to our salvation. It is proof positive that His mission was complete. The resurrection is the receipt that says, "Paid in Full." There is no higher price to be paid. The transaction is complete. There is nothing more to be done, but to accept the gift purchased with His blood. You can do nothing to add to it. You have no assets to add to what Christ has already done. You have only to accept His gift and receive Him as your Savior. Why? Because He has completely paid for every sin ever committed by everyone. "And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world." (1 John 2:2)

If you believe that Jesus has paid the price for your sins and has risen from the dead, you can call on Him to forgive you and be your Savior. Romans 10:9,10 insure that a sincere prayer from the heart, believing in the finished work of Christ, will be heard and answered. "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."

If you have already received Christ, take time this Easter to rejoice in your risen Savior! If not, I can think of no time better than the present. Call on Him today and receive the gift that He has purchased for you!
