A Brief History of Light for
Living.
Light for Living began as a writing
ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in
Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily
Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were
posted on this website. Shortly after
assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was
approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about
providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT
90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a
radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the
weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are
still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor
Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles
for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Light for

The Brave and the
Free
Each year, we set aside a day in America to honor our veterans. While this is
always important, during time of conflict and crisis we seem to be more aware of
its significance. As we look across the sea each day through the miracle of
modern media we see American men and women going into combat to seek justice and
to secure future freedoms. I trust that you join me in praying for their safety
and success each day.
This year, I am as thankful as I ever have been for those who have fought and do
fight for our country. The tragedy of September 11 is a day that will not soon
be forgotten. Who would have believed that we were so vulnerable? Yet we were.
And now our men and women are being sent into harm's way in order to protect and
defend our nation. I am thankful for the technology that minimizes the risks for
Americans in combat. The amount of American blood shed in combat has been
greatly reduced. Yet every American that volunteers to serve his/her country
understands that he may be called upon to make that supreme sacrifice for his
fellow Americans.
Each Sunday our church pews are laced with Americans who served our country in
years past when the risks were higher. That gentleman who gets his senior
discount on coffee then sits down to chat with old friends is often a veteran
who has listened with fear as bullets whistled over his head. It must have
seemed as though his heart was going to beat through his chest as he felt the
earth shake in combat. The greeter at your local department store or the retiree
who sacks your groceries just may be carrying with him memories of close friends
that fought by his side day after day, yet never again set foot on American
soil.
These are men who gave their all for America. They deserve our respect and
gratitude. Will you take time to honor them this weekend? Thank them for their
service to this great country. Remember those who have served and do not forget
those that are serving now. Send them a card or letter and tell them that they
are in your prayers.
As brave men and women have offered themselves for service they have followed
the example of our blessed Lord and Savior. Jesus said, "Greater love
hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
(John 15:13) He then gave His life that we might enjoy the greatest liberty of
all. With His life, He ransomed us from sin that we might have life everlasting.
It is a wonderful thing to enjoy the liberties that have been purchased for us
by those who fought for our country. It is a far greater pleasure to enjoy the
liberties purchased for us by the blood of Christ. Let us never forget that
freedom isn't free. There has always been someone to pay the price that others
might enjoy the benefit.
It is my prayer that you enjoy not only the liberty of being and America, but
also the freedom of having your sins forgiven and a home in heaven.
"Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us
free." (Galatians 5:1)
