A Brief History of Light for
Living.
Light for Living began as a writing
ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in
Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily
Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were
posted on this website. Shortly after
assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was
approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about
providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT
90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a
radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the
weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are
still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor
Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles
for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Light for

Believers But Lost
Do you believe in God? Most people do. Occasionally, I have
encountered someone who claims that they do not believe in God. More often I
encounter those who believe in God but have no relationship with Him. They often
say things like, "I believe in God, but…" Some how they feel that by
tipping their hat to God and acknowledging His existence that makes them good
people and they will be accepted by Him.
The greatest extent of their religion is to believe that God exists. They do not
care to know much about Him. They have no regard for His plan for their life.
Somehow they think that acknowledging the obvious is a commendable feat that
will earn their spot in heaven. However, God's Word teaches us something vastly
different. It is not sufficient to simply know that God exists. Have you ever
noticed James 2:19? "Thou believest that there is one God; thou
doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble."
This verse of Scripture should be especially sobering to the casual believer.
Mental ascent to God's existence is not sufficient to save. If it were the
devils would be in heaven. They know more than anyone that God exists. We do not
deserve a "pat of the back" for simply acknowledging that God is. God
expects more of us. What more does He require? Listen to the words of John the
Baptist. "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become
the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name." (John 1:12)
Not only must we believe, but we must receive. We must accept Jesus Christ as
our Lord and Savior. This is an act of the will. Paul helps to clarify this in
Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the LORD shall
be saved."
Jesus said it a little stronger in Luke 13:3, "except ye repent, ye
shall all likewise perish." Jesus demanded a decision. People needed to
turn from rejecting Him to receiving Him. Simply acknowledging His existence and
His presence was not enough. People needed to turn to Him.
A young lady may be very much in love with a handsome young man, but she will
never be his wife until she accepts his proposal for marriage and acts upon that
decision. I'm very happy for you if you believe that there is a God. That is a
very important first step. I'm even happier if you love God. But will you take
that final step and accept His proposal? Will you call upon the Lord to forgive
you for your sins? Will you receive Him as your personal Savior today? Oh, how
wonderful it would be today to have your name officially written in the Lambs
Book of Life. (Revelation 21:27)
"But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to
God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently
seek him." (Hebrews 11:6)
