A Brief History of Light for
Living.
Light for Living began as a writing
ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in
Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily
Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were
posted on this website. Shortly after
assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was
approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about
providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT
90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a
radio ministry. Due to time constrains, the
weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are
still available online through the Light for Living Archives. Pastor
Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles
for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon. Light for

And now for this weeks devotional.
A Great Day!
Yesterday was one of the top five days in my life. Yesterday my wife gave birth to our third son, Garrison! It was so amazing to watch him and realize that everything was entirely new to him. In a sense, he had passed from one world into another.
For the past nine months all that he knew was inside his mother's womb. I'm sure that he recognized her voice, although he did not understand what she said. I'm certain that he felt the sensations of movement even though he didn't know where he was going. He felt pressures from the outside that seemed to have no apparent cause to him. Then in a matter of moments his world was greatly expanded. He learned that the dark, yet secure world that he had known was only a small part of a larger universe.
I believe that we Christians find ourselves like that in this world. We are often tempted to think that we know all that there is to know. Like a child in the womb, we are tempted to believe that if we can't see it or touch it, it does not exist. But think for a moment. How would you explain to an infant in the womb what the world was really like? You couldn't. It would be impossible. Even if he could understand what you were saying, he would have no means of comprehending the truths of what you said. That's how we are when it comes to comprehending Heaven.
Will you notice how Paul described our journey through this life? "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." 1 Corinthians 13:12. Paul recognized that there are some things in this life that we will never fully understand. Heaven was one of those things. "But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him." 1 Corinthians 2:9.
When a Christian closes his eyes for the last time on this earth, then opens them again in heaven, he will realize for the first time what a wonderful place God has prepared for him. He will testify that his wildest imaginations could not have prepared him for the greatness of the Kingdom of God. What a wonderful day that will be!
We must always remember that our experiences are limited. It would be very presumptuous of us to believe that we had somehow experienced all that there was to experience or knew all that there was to know. Never loose sight of the fact that the secret things belong to God.
Yes, yesterday was a great day! Garrison laid eyes on this world for the very first time. But there is an even greater day ahead for all those who know Christ. In that day, we will all open our eyes and behold a kingdom that words could never describe.
