A Brief History of Light for Living.

Light for Living began as a writing ministry of Pastor Gary Click while pastoring the Calvary Baptist Church in Clinton, IN. His articles were published in the local newspaper, The Daily Clintonian. They were also distributed to email subscribers and several were posted on this website.

Shortly after assuming the pastorate of the Fremont Baptist Temple, Fremont, OH, he was approached by Pastor James Lewis and chief operator, Brian Benedict about providing a two thirty-minute Radio Programs for the weekend. (WHVT 90.5 fm) At this point, Pastor Click's writing ministry transformed into a radio ministry.

Due to time constrains, the weekly devotional gave way to the radio ministry. However, these devotionals are still available online through the Light for Living Archives.

Pastor Click is still active in writing bible studies, dramas and devotional articles for other applications. We hope to make those resources available soon.

A Car Without Reverse

Bible college students are usually broke. They don't have much money and certainly don't drive the nicest cares. My friend, Bill, was no exception. He was a lot of fun to be with. He always had something funny to say. Recently, I spoke with Bill and we laughed as we remembered his old green car. Whenever Bill went somewhere in this car he had to make sure he could pull out forwards. If he couldn't do that he parked on a hill that would allow the car to roll backwards. Of course, when I was with him he didn't have to do that because I was there to get out and push. You see Bill's car didn't have reverse.

If you stop and think about it, that old green car is a good example for Christians. We should eliminate reverse from our spiritual transmissions. Forget about going backwards, let's move forward in our Christian lives. Paul agrees with that statement when he says, "Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus." Philippians 3:13, 14

Are you moving forward in your Christian life? Or are you constantly busy looking back?

Satan wants you to look back. He reminds you of your failures. He constantly brings up your past. I read a sign recently that said, "The next time Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future." That's good advise. The only thing we can do about our past is ask for God's forgiveness, learn from it and move on. God never intended for us to dwell on it. Instead we need to be looking towards the future. Set you eyes on the things that are ahead of you. Establish goals for Christian growth and maturity. Rejoice in the blessings that God has in store for you.

I have observed that each Christian grows at a different rate of speed. Some Christians seem to blossom over night, while others move ahead slowly but surely. I'm not as concerned with how fast a Christian grows as I am in which direction he goes. If I can see him/her constantly moving towards Christ, I am greatly encouraged.

Perhaps you heard about the man who took the wrong road but hesitated to turn around because he was making great time. My friend, it doesn't matter how fast you are moving if you are going the wrong way. Which direction are you headed today? Are you headed towards God or away from Him?

Take this advise from an old car, "Forget reverse, let's move forward."
